The 4th annual Harvard Orthopaedics Golf Outing was held on May 31, 2002 at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, MA. Among the estimated 100 participants were five local alumni of the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and approximately 30 current faculty members from institutions affiliated with the residency program. The Harvard Orthopaedic Golf Outing continues to be a great time for members and friends of the Harvard Orthopaedic community to get together and enjoy a day of camaraderie and friendly competition, said Dr. David Kim, one of the events resident organizers. The day began with a four-person, shotgun scramble tournament, followed by a dinner and awards ceremony. Among the individual award winners were Drs. Robert Hurford and James Kasser for closest tee shots to the pin. Drs. James OHolleran and Donald Bae took home honors for the longest drives of the day. The team competition was won by the foursome of Dr. Harry Rubash, Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia, Dr. David Golden, and Ms. Karen
Bernstein, who finished the day with a team score of 9 under par. Other notable achievements included that of Drs. Renn Crichlow, Joseph Czarnecki, Thomas Myers, and Robert OToole, who distinguished themselves as the programs highest scoring foursome. Dr. Czarnecki also won the coveted Barry P. Simmons Award for the days most memorable event. The 4th annual outing was a great success, and we trust that next years event will be as enjoyable and well attended, said Dr. Donald Bae, the other resident organizer. Plans are already underway for next years outing, tentatively planned for the last Friday of May. Next years organizers will be Drs. James OHolleran and Lauren Adey.
