The Harvard Orthopedic Ski Day 2008
Waterville Valley, NH
February 9-10, 2008

This year’s Annual Resident Ski Day at Waterville Valley was an undeniable blast. Some of us started the morning with a lesson while others skiied with a mountain guide. Perhaps more of the residents should have taken the lesson and asked specifically for racing tips as we unfortunately lost again this year to the attendings in the afternoon’s NASTAR race. However, there is hope on the horizon as we have a couple of ringers in the junior and intern classes (who will remain unnamed so as to avoid being put on call for future ski days). Alas, the attendings aren’t getting any younger, and their kids are starting to insist on skiing for the residents. All we have to do now is figure out how to bribe a certain former US Women’s Ski Team member to come over to our side. Dr. Brick graciously hosted everyone on Saturday night at his condo for an X-ray conference, a delicious dinner, and plenty of drinks. Sunday brought a little pow-pow for those of us who know how to stay up late and get up early. Thank you so much on behalf of the residents and fellows to the attendings who donated their time and resources to making the weekend another success. We were provided with 3 awesome condos, great meals, lift passes, lessons and guides. Among the contributers were Drs. Brick, Ready and Vrahas as well as Drs. Appleton and Abraham. Also, a big thanks to Dr. Rubash for his support.
