2013 Senior Thesis Day

The Osgood Lecture

Tony Herring, M.D., HCORP Thesis Day

No Limits; Stories of Human Adaptability

Tony Herring, M.D.

Professor of Orthopaedic surgery
University of Texas Southwestern Medical School
Chief of Staff Emeritus
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

I am honored to introduce our Osgood lecturer for 2013: Dr. Tony Herring. Dr. Herring is a graduate of this program; he and his wife have spent the last days renewing long friendships with others of our faculty, including Dr. Barry Simmons. It gives us particular pleasure to welcome back one of our own to participate in this year's graduation.

I'd like the residents to know how fortunate we are to have Dr. Herring with us; he is truly a luminary presence in the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. As the chairman at Texas Scottish Rite hospital, he not only built and established the department as a preeminent resource for children and their families, but he played a major role in establishing the place of pediatric orthopaedics in the national landscape.
